Abstract painting detail showing light and shadow resembling a face

Held by Grace part 2: Finding Jesus in the Details

Have you ever created something that seemed to carry more meaning than you expected? That’s what happened to me while working on this piece.

The textures, the gold, the layers : All random stokes were not planned at all. I just followed the feeling inside me. Something in me knew it had to be raw and real.

After pouring my emotions into this painting, I didn’t expect anything more than a sense of peace. But something deeper emerged, not just for me, but for those around me too.

When my husband saw the finished piece, he paused and stared quietly. Then he gently said, “I can see Jesus in this.”
At first, I thought it was just his kind imagination: but then I looked again. There were subtle shapes, shadows, and impressions that looked like snippets of a face, a crown of thorns, even outstretched arms.

It was surreal.

It was one of those moments where art becomes more than self-expression.It becomes spiritual confirmation. A reminder that Jesus was truly walking with me during those heavy days. Not loudly. Not forcefully. Just there. Present in the stillness.

Seeing those snippets in the paint gave me hope. It told me that grace doesn’t always come in grand gestures—sometimes it comes through paint on canvas and a gentle whisper through someone you love.

Do You See It Too?

I’ve included close-up shots and snippets from the painting so you can explore the details yourself.
Everyone sees something different, and maybe that’s the beauty of grace: it meets us where we are.

Reflective Question:
