Gentle rituals, small comforts, this is how I found my way back to myself.

No one really prepares us for how menopause can make us feel, off balance, emotional( really emotional I mean, lol), sleepless, or suddenly unsure in our own skin. For me, it didn’t come gradually. I entered surgical menopause at around 44 I think, after undergoing a total hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries (TAHBSO) due to a large myoma. It was a lot for me to take at once, physically, emotionally, hormonally.

The sudden drop in hormones felt like someone had flipped a switch in my body. I remember my OB/GYN clearly explained that it’s not only me who would be adjusting to this, but why whole family. I struggled with mood swings. I didn’t realize that I became such a cry baby with even a touching movie or with a petty fight with my husband. Not to mention that intense night sweats, dry skin, sudden hair loss, recurrent infections, weight gain and a loss of connection with myself. I wasn’t ready for it. But over time, I started discovering gentle, natural ways to support myself , not to “fix” what happened, but to ease into this new version of womanhood with grace.

Here are a few wellness picks that helped me feel more like me again. I hope they’ll offer support to you, too, whether your menopause was natural, early, or like mine, unexpected.

The supplement my gynecologist quietly recommended and now I won’t go without.

Evening Primrose Oil : Balancing Me From the Inside Out

This supplement came up in almost every conversation I had with other women and even my gynecologist mentioned it as a helpful option for managing hormonal changes naturally. Evening Primrose Oil is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a fatty acid that supports hormone balance, skin health, and mood. After a few weeks of daily use, I noticed less breast tenderness, improved skin hydration, and a little more emotional stability during the rough patches. It’s one of those gentle daily habits that just adds up quietly.

What’s really impressed me was that because of this supplement, I didn’t had urinary tract infections anymore. That was such a blessing to me for my UTI episodes are the worst, having to be hospitalised was a nightmare.

I take these gems twice a day, one after breakfast and the other during bed time.

One capsule before bed and my sleep (finally) feels like rest.

Magnesium Glycinate : A Natural Sleep Helper

Sleep has been one of my biggest struggles during menopause. I tried different things, but most either made me too groggy or didn’t work at all. Magnesium Glycinate was different. It’s known for being calming on the nervous system without acting like a sedative — and it’s often recommended by doctors and naturopaths for improving sleep quality and reducing anxiety, especially for women over 40. I take it about an hour before bed and find myself easing into rest without the tossing and turning. No hangover feeling in the morning, just deeper, more refreshing sleep.

Bonus: It’s also great for muscle relaxation and PMS cramps.

A little thing that changed how I dress (and feel) every day.

Silicone Nipple Covers : Because Comfort and Confidence Matter

I know it sounds small, but when your body is changing, even little discomforts feel bigger. Sensitive nipples became an issue for me, and wired bras were either too padded or too restrictive. These soft, reusable silicone covers were a lifesaver. They stay in place, even on humid days, and make it easy to wear anything — from summer tops to loose tees with confidence and ease. I love that I can just apply and go, without thinking about it again all day.

And they are re-usable!!! Yaaay! Wash with soap , pat dry and good to go! To the one who invented these! Thank you I owe you my life 🙂
